Buxton was named for Colonel G. Edward Buxton, Jr., '02, who was second in command of the OSS during World War II, a former Treasurer of the Providence Journal Company, and Chairman of the Housing and Development Campaign for Wriston Quadrangle. Buxton House is home to Buxton International House, one of Brown's program houses.
