As part of Keeney Quadrangle, Archibald House was built in 1957 and is named in honor of Raymond Clare Archibald, professor of mathematics from 1909 to 1943. In 2013, Keeney Quad was fully renovated and existing houses were combined creating Archibald-Bronson. Renovations added elevators, accessible bathrooms and top floor lounges, upgraded lighting and various amenities.

Archibald-Bronson is part of the notorious Keeney Quad, the historical center of freshman social life on campus. Rooms are spacious, with a deep walk-in closet, shelving, and a waist-high dresser for each roommate. Though there is no AC, ventilation is adequate. The radiator heating is adjustable, though it only turns on in mid-October. Amenities at Archibald-Bronson are decent. The fifth floor lounge is spacious, with multiple study rooms, a TV room, and a living room. Connected to the lounge is a kitchen with two ovens, two sinks, two countertops, and an island. Residents also have access to the Arnold Lounge on the northeast side of the Quad, in which there is plenty of study space, a printer, and a yoga studio. The laundry room, in the basement, houses enough washers and dryers for the residents and is not often crowded. There is an elevator with access to all floors. There are two communal bathrooms and a single-occupancy bathroom in each hallway. The bathrooms were generally clean in my year, though the single-occupancy room in my hall was locked for several months due to a mold infestation. The sinks were regularly crowded, but the toilets and showers were usually open. Maintenance often took weeks to months when requested. The southwesterly location is nice, being only a block from the Main Green and a short, picturesque walk to the Ratty. It is about a five minute walk to the Rock and a 10 minute walk to Andrews. However, it is a 15 minute hike to the Athletics Complex; if you are an athlete or plan to frequent the Nelson, you may want to invest in a scooter. Keeney is also situated well for walking to Fox Point or downtown.
