Slater Hall is Brown University's second built dormitory. The dormitory was named after its donor Horatio Nelson Slater. The building is a French-Romanesque style. The current site of Slater Hall is not the original intended site for the building. It had to be built on its current site because the original site blocked the view of the College grounds from several wealthy Providence citizens. Slater Hall was used as military housing during WWII. Today Slater Hall still serves as a dormitory.
